Made from 95% wool and 5% camel hair, the Wool & Camel Hair Drape Vest has an open front and an intentionally generous, one-size fit. It measures 29.5 in / 75 cm at the front, 32.3 in / 82 cm at the back, and 30.3 in / 77 cm across the shoulders. Choose it for an office set to someone else’s comfort, where it layers over a tee without sleeves getting in the way, or for the street, where it fits under a coat rather than replacing one. A touch of camel hair softens the wool's hand without adding bulk.

95% wool, 5% camel hair.
A wool base with a small share of camel hair for softness and a faint natural sheen — light in the hand, warm without weight, and breathable enough to keep on indoors.

Care: Dry clean recommended. Skip the washing machine and the tumble dryer — wool firms up and shrinks a little in a warm, moving wash, and it does not relax back. Airing between wears is most of the upkeep; blot spills rather than rubbing. Fold to store; avoid hanging for long periods to keep the drape. For pilling, spills, and storage, see our Care Guide.

How do I check the Drape Vest's one-size fit before buying?

Measure something loose you already own and compare. The vest is 30.3 in / 77 cm across the shoulders, 57.5 in / 146 cm around the chest, 29.5 in / 75 cm long at the front and 32.3 in / 82 cm at the back. It is cut deliberately boxy with a wide dropped shoulder, so it is meant to hang away from the body rather than follow it. Our model is 5 ft 7 in / 170 cm.
Why choose the Drape Vest instead of a cape?

Because your arms stay free. Every open-front cape trades arm freedom for shoulder coverage — you resettle it when you stand, you route a bag strap underneath it, you take it off to drive. The vest has defined shoulders and does none of that: it stays where you put it while you type, carry things and move around. What you give up is the drama and some of the warmth across the upper arm.
Will the Drape Vest fit under a coat?

Under a roomy coat, yes. It is sleeveless, so there is no bulk at the arm, but the shoulder is wide and the cut is generous — a slim tailored coat will fight it. The reliable test is whether you can already wear a thick jumper under that coat comfortably. Most people wear this indoors and carry the coat over it rather than layering the two all day.
What does the Drape Vest's wool and camel hair blend feel like?

Firm rather than fluffy, with a faint sheen from the camel. It is 95% wool with 5% camel hair, and it is the densest cloth we weave at 583 g/m² — that weight is what gives it the drape it has. It is designed to go over clothing, so a tee or a shirt usually sits between the wool and your skin. If your neck is sensitive, wear a collar underneath.
How do I care for the Drape Vest's shape?

Dry cleaning is recommended rather than required, and airing does most of the work. It is worth keeping out of the washing machine, though — wool firms up and shrinks a little in a warm, moving wash, and it does not relax back. Fold it; do not hang it for long periods, which is what pulls the drape out of a heavy sleeveless piece. Pills form under the arms and beneath a bag strap where there is repeated friction — lift them with a comb rather than pulling.
How should I store the Drape Vest over the summer?

Store it clean at the end of the season. Moth larvae go for the skin oils and traces held in worn wool more than the fibre itself, so a clean piece is a far poorer meal than one hung away as it came off. Keep it somewhere that breathes, and look in on it once or twice over the summer.
What does the Drape Vest in Charred Cedar go with?
