Made from 50% baby camel hair and 50% wool, the Murmur Cape measures 51 × 57 in / 130 × 145 cm. The blend feels substantial in the hand, with a softly brushed surface and enough body to hold a clean, coat-like line. Its generous panel provides outerwear-level coverage, while the open front and absence of closures make it easy to put on, take off, and layer.

Wear it over a tee or knit through a long afternoon at the desk, over tailoring for dinner, or as an additional layer when the temperature turns. It has the presence of a coat without committing you to sleeves, buttons, or a fixed fit.

50% baby camel hair, 50% wool.
An uncommon blend of natural fibers that balances gentle structure with a brushed, cloud-like handfeel — warm yet breathable, soft yet lasting.

Care: Dry clean only. Skip the washing machine and the tumble dryer — camel hair and wool firm up and shrink a little in a warm, moving wash, and they do not relax back. More coat than wrap. Murmur has the substantial hand and polished drape of fine outerwear, without sleeves or closures to dictate how you wear it.

How will the Murmur one-size ruana fit me?

It is one open panel, 51 × 57 in / 130 × 145 cm laid flat, with no sleeves and no closures — so it drapes rather than fits. The same panel reads longer on a shorter frame and leaves less overlap at the front on a broader one. Our model is 5 ft 9 in / 175 cm. This is the largest thing we make to wear; if you are well under that height, the Ember Cape at 44 × 45.7 in is the one that will not swamp you.
Can I wear the Murmur cape instead of a coat?

Indoors and on calm days, yes — there is enough cloth here for real warmth across the shoulders and chest, and it comes off in one motion when you get somewhere warm. It is not outerwear: no wind resistance, nothing water-repellent, no fastening. In weather, wear it under or instead of nothing, not instead of a coat.
Can I carry a bag or drive while wearing the Murmur cape?

A shoulder bag works with the strap underneath the cape rather than over it — over the top and the fabric bunches at the shoulder. Driving in something this size is not comfortable; take it off, which with an open front takes a second. Reaching up or carrying a child will move it, and you will resettle it afterwards. This is a layer for being somewhere rather than for working with your hands above your head.
How do I wear Murmur so it looks like a garment, not a blanket?

Over something fitted — a shirt, a fine knit, tailoring — rather than over bulk. Let it hang open instead of wrapping it closed. One shoulder pushed back gives it a line. Worn long over a heavy jumper it will look like what it is, a large piece of cloth; worn over something slim it reads as outerwear.
What does Murmur's baby camel hair feel like?

Soft and brushed, with more body than cashmere and a faint sheen. It is 50% baby camel hair and 50% wool, and a third-party laboratory has confirmed that split under AATCC Test Method 20A — camel and sheep fibres are told apart under a microscope. If wool near your neck is a problem for you, wear it over a collar; the blend does not change that.
Will Murmur shed on my clothes, and how do I clean it?

The brushed surface releases some fibre, most of it in the first weeks, and it shows most on dark clothing. Shake it out rather than brushing hard, and keep it clear of rough straps and fastenings, which pull the pile. Dry clean only, and rarely — airing between wears is the normal maintenance. Fold or roll it to store; hanging pulls the shoulder line out.
How should I store the Murmur cape over the summer?

Put it away clean. Larvae feed on the oils and traces in worn cloth more than on the fibre, so a clean piece is a much poorer meal. Somewhere that breathes, not anywhere that traps moisture, and a look at it once or twice before autumn — damage is usually well along before an adult moth is seen.
What does Murmur in Forest Loam go with?
